Michael Colgan Obituary

Wyoming – Michael Marvin Colgan, 82, of Wyoming, died on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. He was born on March 1, 1943, in Peoria, the son of Earl and Florence (Pauli) Colgan. He married Adelheid “Heidi” Schefzik on September 26, 1964, in Wyoming; she survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Anita (Ben Chisholm) Colgan of Alameda, CA, Tina Colgan of Greenville, SC, Marika (Keenan) Sharpe of Alpharetta, GA, and Danielle Colgan of Clyde, NC; sister, Carolyn (Andy) Patterson of Springfield; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Harper, and Margaret “Maggie”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Florence; stepmom, Margaret E. Colgan; infant son, Aaron Michael Colgan; and sister, Mary “Colette” Colgan.

Mike met his beloved wife, Heidi, in high school and followed her to Europe after graduating, where he worked and trained as a cabinet maker. Together they returned to Wyoming and were married. He opened and operated his business, Colgan Woodcraft, from 1966 until his retirement in 2013. He was a volunteer fireman for the Wyoming Fire Department for over 30 years and a long-time member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. He loved archery, gardening, history, trains, camping with his young children, and traveling in his retirement. Mike was also a storyteller and always had a well-timed joke.

A graveside ceremony will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at St. Dominic Catholic Cemetery in Wyoming. Haskell Funeral & Cremation Services in Wyoming is assisting with arrangements.
